Making the most of your college experience

When we think of college we think of things like class schedules, writing papers and taking exams. However, this is only a part of what the college experience offers in terms of preparing students for future success. Students must work hard to create a success plan that allows them to grow in experience, leadership, communication, and responsibility.

There are many opportunities in college. Students need to understand how to make the most of their time and really opt in to the college experience. These opportunities can also be very useful in helping a student hone their major and future career goals.

There is a common misconception that the only college experience that will prepare you for success is at an expensive, distant and exclusive institution. This is simply not true. Students can be well prepared for their future at nearly all institutions*; including local, affordable, public institutions. In fact, the freedom that comes with low student debt can set students up to be MORE successful from an affordable institution. Learning how to take advantage of everything the university has to offer will get you the best bang for your tuition buck.
